A Great Mother's Day Present!

Today our youngest son, Adam, arrived from the states for a month-long visit. Also at the airport were the Ripleys, fellow missionaries with Action, who were also awaiting the arrival of their son, Steve. Steve and Adam had met several years ago and were pleasantly surprised to learn they were on the same flight out of Chicago to Lusaka. At check-in they were able to arrange seating together.

In order to help Adam with jet lag we kept busy by visiting the Tuesday vegetable market. Row after row of green, yellow, and orange vegetables lined the way. There Adam tried out some simple Nyanja phrases like, “How much is this?” (Zingati?), “What is this?” (Ichi ndi ciyani?), and “Thank you.” (Zikomo) It was neat to see him pick up those words so quickly.

After getting home we took a short tour of Makeni Centre showing him the many spiders, introducing him to several friends, and trying out the soccer field. As we threw the frisbee around the dirt field it was not long before a crowd had gathered. Soon we had several students from the school joining in to throw the disc. Adam hopes to spend time in the weeks ahead working with the youth in sports activities.

It’s great to finally have Adam here. What a long-awaited day! We praise God for his safe arrival. Please pray that God would give us a sweet time together in the next month.
