Blessed Be The Ties That Bind

While on home assignment Tracy and I had wanted to take presents back for the pastors of APC. To purchase presents for 15 people that were affordable, desireable, and transportable made us think. My friend, Donna Carlaw, said that missionaries usually bring what she calls "flat gifts". Our decision certainly reflects that idea.

Pastors like wearing suits when they preach, so we thought they might like two new ties. With help from my sister who ironed and wrapped them,
we presented them to the pastors our first Wednesday back in Zambia.

It is important to respect age in a group setting so Tracy passed out the gifts since he most likely knew who was oldest. In the first picture above Tracy is speaking with Mr. Kashewe about the exact date of his birth as there was a close tie. No pun intended.

What we didn't realize was that my sister, Les, had wrapped a little something extra in each package~a one dollar bill. They were pretty excited about a little extra cash as well as looking sharp for Sunday morning.

How very clever! and it looks like the ties and money was a hit!
