Although Independence Day is not until Sunday, the schools in Makeni were celebrating their country's freedom. A number of the local private schools performed before parents, teachers, and friends, with singing, skits, and dancing.
Pictured above is the preschool class from the Makeni Ecumenical Center, Zambia's future. Each of the children dressed in costume, depicting various vocations. The girl in the white nurse's uniform is Blessing, the daughter of a lady in our church. Her outfit was complete with a plastic syringe. The other vocations featured were the military, business, construction, law, airlines, and a few I didn't recognize.
Festivities will continue through Monday. Zambians are very proud of their country, very patriotic. Please pray for Zambia, that it will remain a strong country; that God would bless it, and that righteousness would reign.
