Nothing Like Old Friends

Brad Reardon and Tracy
This past week we were blessed by a visit from Brad Reardon. When we were in seminary during the early '90s, we attended the church which Brad pastors, the Evangelical Free Church of Sycamore-DeKalb. We became good friends with him and his wife, JoHannah. Prior to coming to Zambia he been in Kenya for eleven days teaching and preaching to pastors.

On Saturday Tracy took Brad to see our offices/pastor training center. However, because the security guard is a Seventh Day Adventist and was at meetings, they were unable to enter. They then drove out to Kasupe to visit Action Zambia's ministry center, Cinyanjano. Here Brad was able to see the camping facilities in use by a church. Ciyanjano is made affordable to Zambians who would otherwise be unable to attend.

Looking at Veritas materials
Not only was Brad introduced to ants in pancake syrup while here, he was also baptized into the cultural experience of long church services. On Palm Sunday Tracy and Brad attended our church here in Makeni (I was sick, so I remained at home). After almost three hours the two made their way back to our place, a bit weary.

Tracy also shared with Brad the Veritas materials being used in the Action Pastors College. The two spent time discussing books and theology.

It was a delight to have Brad here~the only thing that would've made it better would be to have his wife here. Maybe next time, IKEA buddy?
