Twins Remembered

Andrea Hilty turns thirty-one on May 17, the same day as our daughter, Audrey. They were both born the same year, but thousands of miles apart. Our one and only daughter made her appearance in Oklahoma, the day before Mount St. Helens erupted. I tell Audrey that her birth was so cataclysmic that the volcano couldn't handle it. Happy birthday, Audrey!

Not sure about the exact time, but while I was in labor with Audrey, a mother in Kenya was in the hospital as well delivering her second daughter. Andrea's parents, Stan and Donna, were missionaries in Kenya and are now serving the Lord in South Africa. It's amazing to me how God's Story plays out in our lives, intertwining the threads~our teammate was born the same day as our daughter!

For several years now the women on our team have gathered to celebrate one another's birthdays. Usually we have lunch or supper at the birthday girl's favorite spot. Yesterday we went to Kilimanjaro Cafe, which has moved way out of town on Leopard's Hill Road. When Manda Hill constructed their new mall, Kilimanjaro moved out as other businesses did. I think the rental prices skyrocketed~however, I can't help but wonder how the "off the beaten path" locations have affected business.

Regardless, we had a grand time catching up on one another's lives. Andrea got some loot~jewelry (which she's sporting above), a pedicure gift certificate, cards, basket, knitted dishrag, and some Hidden Valley Ranch dressing.

Before dessert we shared with Andrea how much we appreciated her. After cupcakes we also gave Andrea the option of riding on the little pony in the children's area, or letting us sing "Happy Birthday" to her. She chose wisely~we sang to her.

Again, happy birthday to the "twins", Andrea and Audrey! Wish I could be with you on your special day, baby girl.
