Our Cup Runneth Over

We missed the harvest of strawberries last year because we were home on furlough. But, not this year!

There are three strawberry beds in our garden and right now they continue to produce, even in our winter! The harvest is especially sweet considering our constant battle with the steady flow of the bird population and lizards. To combat this Tracy has had to put what we call "hats" over the plants. People use these umbrella hats to cover up food at a picnic. They work great against the fowl, but are useless against lizards. So each morning Tracy is out there early picking berries.

So far we have had strawberry shortcake and vanilla ice cream smothered with them. Next I plan to make my good friend Becky's strawberry muffins for company we're having. Mmmm, good!
