Cheeseheads

Wouldn't you know it? The day we go to visit the cheese factory in Rudolph is one of the days that they don't make cheese. Rats. They were unhappy, too.

Instead, we watched a movie of how cheese is made. I never knew that making cheese was so complicated. Tracy didn't know that Wisconsin is called the Cheese State because they have the most knowledgeable and professional approach to cheesemaking. He just thought they had a lot of cows here. That they spray different molds and bacteria on cheeses to give them their unique characteristics was new to Neal.

Once the workers realized where Tracy and I were from, they offered several samples of cheese. We definitely don't get the varieties of cheese in Africa.
Cheese chunks with cranberry, dill, bacon, and cajun and pizza seasonings fill their refrigerated cases. Of course, we had to buy some!

After filling our basket we meandered over to the ice cream room where to my amazement were three cases filled with china cheese dishes. I imagine there were about 150 of them on the shelves. Some were definitely antiques.

Wisconsin is the land of cheese. Most importantly, it's where our son lives. And, that is what will bring us back to Wisconsin! Okay, it's the cheese.
