One of the things we are finding hard to do here is raise a garden. We've planted tomatoes, onions, peas, cantaloupe, strawberries, watermelon, lettuce, potatoes, broccoli, impwa (like eggplant), chili peppers, green peppers, and pumpkin. We give thanks to God for the plentiful harvest of onions, chili peppers, lettuce, and now tomatoes. Our strawberries have started to send out shoots and we did enjoy a few this past year. However, insects, fungus, poor soil, and rain have claimed the rest. Right now because of the rain our tomatoes are turning black. Tracy has sprayed, fertilized, tilled, composted, and prayed to fight the elements.Although there were plenty of blooms on our nine pumpkin vines, the plants yielded this one lonely pumpkin. This is a pumpkin grown from seeds brought from the states. Pumpkins here tend to be yellow, not orange. Isn't it a cute pumpkin, though? You're cute, too, Tracy!

Have you ever eaten pumpkin blossoms? They are really quite good fried. A neighbor taught us to do that when we were first married.
