Makeni Randomness
Today I decided to take some pictures of things that caught my eye. There's no certain theme, just a random album of people and things. This is Mark, our yard helper, wearing Tracy's sunglasses. Today Mark had been busting up decorative rock for the yard and Tracy didn't want him to injure his eyes. Mark is a sweet guy and is very gentle with children.
We decided since lizards are an everyday occurence here we thought we'd freak them out with these metal versions from the craft fair. We did freak someone out, just not the lizards. After we put them up we got a knock on our door after nightfall. James, one of our neighbors, was standing there with eyes widened. In a quiet voice he asked, "What are those things on your wall?" He apparently hadn't seen geckos that large!
Nor has anyone seen ants this big either! Tracy also picked these whimsical critters up at the craft fair. I don't think I would want these fellas hanging around at a picnic.
Before coming to Africa the only time I saw poinsettia plants was at Christmastime and they were in a foil lined pot. I've never seen them growing on a tree~and they're blooming in April here!
Aloe vera is plentiful here and right now it's also in bloom. This burn treatment in bloom is also something I have never seen before. Africa is truly an interesting place!
