If you've been following our blog you will understand when I say I am hesitant to declare the gender of an animal. The cat debacle ring any bells? And, you'll also know that we used to have two guineas, a present from a tribal chieftanness. They both flew the coop right after we built a roost for them and made their home next door with the chickens. Well, one of the guineas met its demise with a dog. But, the other one still roams freely with its new friends searching out insects. (Did you know that 97% of a guinea's diet is bugs?) Not sure, though, whether this is Benny or Joon! (The guinea is the grey one in the middle.)

My mom used to tell the story of how their dog killed all the neighbor's chickens during the depression. It was awful - they couldn't do anything to replace them because they had no money. But they tied up their dog after that!
