My mother-in-law Sylvia is an award-winning quilter. Perhaps you've seen some of her handiwork hanging in our house on quiltracks. Mom has made quilts for each of her children and grandchildren, commemorating weddings and graduations. Their graduation quilts were our children's favorite blankets and ones they took to college.
Mom Singleton made this quilt for our sister-in-law, Marta, who has been battling breast cancer since November. Designed in pinks and blacks this took her a full day to create and stitch. Tracy and I delivered it to Marta this past weekend and she immediately curled up with it on the couch.
I've never seen the breast cancer fabric before (the black blocks) and found the words written on it interesting and encouraging. I thought I would share what I discovered~"courage", "I wear pink", "hope", "fight for cure", strength", "never give up", "a pink ribbon", and "fight like a girl". Another word I would've added, among others, is "pray". Would you pray for Marta, as well as the rest of the Singletons as we go through this with her? Marta, we are standing with you~fight like a girl!

How beautiful! The photo of Tracy with his mom is wonderful. I want you to know that I am praying daily for Marta, that God will give her the strength by the power of the Holy Spirit to fight. I am praying that God will give you and Tracy the words of encouragement that she needs and for the rest of the family to extend their love and comfort to Marta. My heart goes out to all of you. I have lost two cousins to cancer and am so pleased to say they knew the Lord and are with Him today. I sat with my cousin Dolan and God gave me the strength to sing hymns to him in is moments of leaving these chains that hold us here. May God bless you in all those little unexpected ways as you minister to Marta and the family.
