Call it old age; call it dementia. But I've not been able to keep track of how many laps I finish while exercising. Five round trips to the gate in the morning have been the goal, but sometimes I lose track. Adding another routine in the evening made me realize I needed to be more efficient in keeping count. Was it four or five laps?
I used to keep track of my footprints in the snow, uh, I mean sand. This worked for a while until I realized tire prints muddied the evidence. What to do, what to do?
Then Hansel and Gretel came to mind, and I decided to use rocks as my counters. See, you can learn something from fairy tales. Outside our house is a post, a good place to put the stones. After a lap is completed, I pick up a rock and put it into my pocket. I suppose this is better than rocks in my head. Wait a minute, weren't there three rocks there last time? And, is that a hole in my pocket?

Very innovative! And do you remember the Little Rascals movie? One of the kids always sang that he had rocks in his pocket.
