A Significant Day

Leslie, Me, Paul, and Mom

The lying is officially over. This past Saturday the surprises were complete. I rode down to Lake of the Ozarks with my sister, Leslie, and her daughter, Tessa, to surprise our mother for her birthday. Although my mother knew I was in the country, she didn't believe I would be able to get down to southern Missouri to see her. Because my mother is pretty sensitive about her age, I won't reveal which birthday it was, but it is a pretty significant one~somewhere between 79 and 81.

On Sunday we took Mom, her "honey" Paul, and our brother Karl out to lunch at Baxter's, Mom's favorite spot. Afterwards we surprised her (well, not really~she suspected we were decorating) with a little party at the house with a few of her friends, complete with balloons, cake, and presents.

Happy birthday, Mom! The Lord bless you in the coming year!
