| Second English class |
School is in session once again, this time with seven students instead of four. (Anyone want to help grade papers?) Although school began the first week of January, today was my first day as I was in the States visiting our children and
grandchildren. Because of that we will meet four hours a week instead of the usual three.
After a time of getting to know one another I asked the class what they expected from this course. Their expectations about learning grammar will be met. However, they've been given several writing assignments in other classes and they've been told, "Your English teacher will help you with that. That's a lot of pressure~after all, writing and composition is not until next term, right. However, I plan to open up the half hour after class for tutoring them in this area. Normally I would have to leave class immediately to pick Tracy up, but next week we'll be living a three-minute walk away on campus!
The rest of the class period was spent getting to know their dictionaries~we played some "dictionary drills" and they worked in groups to alphabetize words. Much of learning in school here is a community effort, everyone working together.
I have a namesake in my class~Karen, and it's spelled the same way! Would you pray for her as well as the other six~Isaac, Stephen, Davy, Mary, Victor, and Andrew? I truly enjoyed today and think I have a great group of students!
