Blue Tank

In the last few weeks it has dawned on me that the baptismal tank behind the seminary where we live looks awfully familiar. When Tracy and I included a picture of the late President Mwanawasa in our deputation presentation, little did we know we would be living on the property where his baptism took place. The picture, or snap, of the president depicted him in this blue tank after being immersed.

Follwoing his conversion Mwanawasa was discipled by Franklin Kilpatrick, the previous resident of the house where we now live. The former third president of Zambia also attended Twin Palm Baptist Church, also on the campus of the seminary and one which we've attended. What a small world! I wonder if the former president had visited this house?

Kilpatrick and his wife, Paula (the former English teacher here) told Mwanawasa following his conversion that they had been praying for him since he took office in 2001. And in his coming to Christ, God had answered those prayers!

Each morning on my walk around the seminary I pray for Zambia's current president, Michael Sata, that God would grant him good health and wisdom with which to lead this country. I'm unsure of Sata's spiritual condition, but wouldn't it be something if he left his footprints in this blue tank as well?
