Zambia Mourns

The weekend before this last, Zambia marked 50 years of independence. A week ago today the country exchanged the garments of celebration for those of grief~their president, Michael Sata, had passed away. For fourteen days the nation will pay their respects to him as he lies in state.

You may recall that President Sata had recently attended a UN conference in the States and had fallen ill. Since that time there was concern for his health. Please pray for his family as they walk through the valley of the shadow of death.

Please pray for the peace of Zambia as they experience for a second time the death of a president while in office. Pray for wisdom for the Acting President Guy Scott, the late president's vice-president. A decision he recently made resulted in violence, riots, and tire burnings in various places around Lusaka, some of them close to home. We are being wise about where and when we travel. May God grant His peace and mercy to this wonderful country.
