Lions and Votes

Zambians headed to the polls yesterday to elect a president to finish the term of the late President Sata. The three top candidates in the running are Lungu, Hichilema, and Mumba. Voters in Lusaka had to contend with heavy lines (queues) and downpours.

For those in the southern province, specifically those in Siavonga's Namomba area, lions were the deterrent. Villagers chose to stay indoors instead of casting their vote. Can't say that I blame them!

Some voters in the western province will also have to delay their vote due to ballots failing to arrive at three polling stations. I'm told they will get their chance to make their choice.
Barring any further unforeseen difficulties, the election results should be announced either Thursday evening or Friday morning. Please continue to pray for God's choice in this election~pray that Zambia will continue to be relatively free of violence.
