I got a love letter from the bottom of the Grand Canyon this week marked "mailed by mule". It was sent by Tracy the week before at Bright Angel Campground. Adam, Keith (our son-in-law), Tracy, and seven other Singletons from Tracy's extended family hiked into the canyon the week of May 21st and climbed out (sometimes crawled), the following two days. The exception was Adam, who ran the last two miles out. Show off!
Adam's favorite part of the hike was bonding with his Uncle Rick and Aunt Lori. For Tracy, the highlight was drinking a cup of delicious coffee in the early morning hours in the canyon. Louis L'Amour would ask whether that coffee was strong enough to float a bullet or grow barbed wire on the chest. Either way, it was special. Added to these highlights was the significance that this trip was a "final" vacation with the family before our going to Africa next year.
Some have called the Grand Canyon a big hole in the ground. My guys found that to be a poor description. They saw the majesty, glory, and beauty of God on this trip in the landscape, wildlife, and relationships. If you would like to view more pictures of the trip, go to the link at the bottom of this page. There are 112 photos in all! Enjoy!
