Moms Day Out Album

Eleven children showed up today for Moms Day Out, held on the last Wednesday of each month. I took more than the usual number of pictures today and thought I would share them. The custard apple tree at the left is their favorite place to climb in our backyard. In this snap from left to right are Bradyn, Emma, Kamryn, Rhoda, Payton, Macie, Gracyn, Julia, Ireen, Thomas, and Caleb. For some of them the hardest part was getting down!

Part of our routine is to go on a walk through Makeni. Charlotte Mason, a great homeschool educator, has inspired me in this practice. I took my children on walks during every season and in all types of weather. Today it wasn't rainy, which was a blessing. Here the children are at Mrs. Dil's swimming pool which has been converted into a fish pond. The children love feeding the bream and touching the papyrus.

Next stop is the local playground where the children try out their agility on the standing tires. It's interesting that at one time these children needed help skipping from one tire to the other. How they've grown!

Fast becoming pals are Ireen and Rhoda. At first Rhoda was scared of sliding down the slide. But, eventually she got the hang of it and mastered the incline.

Another group shot that proved a little harder for the kids. Kamryn, Macie, and Bradyn held the fort as long as possible at the bottom. But, once Rhoda and Payton were added, the group slid off the slide, giggling and laughing as they lay in a pile.

Makeni has adult education classes, one of which is that of raising pigs. The workers led the children on a tour of the piggery. Since it was 11:30 the pigs thought it was time to eat and began squealing. We could all have used earplugs. Here Kamryn is holding one of the piglets while Macie looks on.

Today's Bible lesson focused on Abraham's obedience to the Lord in not withholding his only son, Isaac, from sacrifice. The children had really good questions, like, "Why did God ask Abraham to do this?" and "If God knew Abraham would be willing to sacrifice his son, why did He ask him to do it?" Always love their questions.

Afterwards we ate popcorn while we watched a movie. Hearing them laugh and giggle thrilled my heart. I realized also that the children seemed to really enjoy being with one another. A good day, Lord~thank you.

Hi Karen,
Carol Sigafoos here, Stephanie Allen's mom. I've been meaning to write and thank you for your ministry on Moms Day Out to my daughter and granddaughters. They all love the time...kids w/ you and the other kids, Steph w/ the other moms. I pray that God will bless you and encourage you as you give yourself in this way to my loved ones. I wish I could be there to enjoy my grandchildren in person, but since I am not, it warms my heart to know that another grandmother is placing some of her life's energy into them. With love, Carol
