Muzungu or Albino?

The minibus dropped us off in Matero compound after dark. As the four of us dodged mud puddles we overheard two women speaking in Nyanja. Pastor Thole began laughing and asked us if we understood what they said. "No," we replied. Here is their conversation~"Are these whites I'm seeing in Matero?" "No, whites never walk this time of night. They must be albinos (pronounced al-beenos)." So, when Tracy and I left the next morning we told Pastor Thole that the albinos were going to the internet cafe. We all had a good laugh about that!

I must say, I love your blog and I just discovered it tonight. I lived in Zambia (near Kitwe) for just under 9 months earlier this year, it would have been LONGER had my Work Visa not expired (long story)

All that to say, I can relate so much with these first few posts you made and I laughed time and time again, knowing JUST what you are speaking about.

Thanks for sharing the Love of JESUS and your stories for people like me to sit, enjoy and relate with.
