At the Farm last Friday we celebrated a Seder meal, a Christianized Passover supper. The roast lamb symbolized Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. This He did on what we now call Good Friday. Other elements included unleavened bread, commanding us to do away with the “leaven” of wickedness; horseradish and charoseth (a sweet sauce) reminding us of the bitterness and sweetness of life; and the three matzohs which alluded to the Trinity, with the second one (the Son) being broken in two. The stripes and holes on the matzoh bread also remind us of Jesus’ substitutionary death on behalf of sinners. “But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.” What a truly meaningful evening. Thankfully, Good Friday was not the end of the story—Resurrection Sunday followed!
