Pray For Baby Chikumbutso

This morning as I prepared to go the the office to pay our rent, the Lord impressed on me the verse from James 1:27, ". . . to visit widows and orphans in their distress." Grabbing my camera I also decided to visit the orphanage's newest addition, Chikumbutso (which means "memory").

As is common in majority world countries, children may have a father or a mother, yet live in an orphanage. Because he could not care for him after the death of his wife, Mr. Tembo gave permission for his son to be cared for at St. Nicholas Orphanage. Coming to Makeni about a month ago, the baby is two months old but is the size of a preemie newborn. Pictured here is Chikumbutso with his father, who visits regularly when he can afford transport money. I felt privileged to be able to snap this photo for Mr. Tembo of him and his son.

Presently the baby is not holding any food or medicine down. He is one sick little boy. As I held him this morning, I whispered to him, "Live, Chikumbutso. Live!" Will you join me in praying for this baby and his father?
