Let's Play

Six children came to Auntie Karen’s house this past Wednesday who thought they were going to play. And, play they did!

For some time I have thought and prayed about how I could serve the women of our mission’s team. The Lord gave me the idea of inviting the children of my teammates to a play day. Calling it Moms’ Day Out, this once a month event gives the mothers a much needed break for five hours.

At our first play day the children and I traveled back in time to when the first missionary visited Africa with the gospel. Do you know who that was? (A hint is in this paragraph.)The stories, songs, poems, games, and crafts focused on Africa, with special emphasis on its animal population. With every plastic container I could find, we drummed and danced to several songs. Most of the children tried on an Ethiopian dress which was given to me by a dear friend. Ireen Hilty truly looked Ethiopian in it! For a craft we
decorated a drawing of a lion with markers and gold yarn pieces.
Our day included sack lunch on the lawn as well as a walk to
the orphanage playground.

M.D.O. ended on a perfect note~hugs and kisses from six sweeties. The best part of all? I got my Grandma fix!

Livingstone, I presume?

What a great idea to have a mom's day out! I recognize some of those cute little kiddies.
