. . . that one thing David Livingstone considered a medical necessity on his journeys was a bathtub? While in the city of Livingstone Tracy and I read a portion of one of his letters at the museum there. Livingstone's opening sentence stated that a bathtub was essential to good health. Now that we've been in Zambia for almost eight months, we know that Africa's red dirt can hide wherever it wants! I've never had to clean my ears out so much as I have here! Sores and wounds are susceptible to infection and simple bathing goes a long way to preventing them from festering. Hail to the bathtub!

I know what you mean. When we were in China, I couldn't get my feet clean after wearing sandles all day. We had a shower but not a bathtub. I longed for someplace to soak my feet.
