How Do You Eat An Elephant?

As I was leafing through one of Mrs. Dil’s cookbooks, Favorite Recipes, compiled by the American Women’s Club of Lusaka, I found a most delightful recipe. I thought I would share “Hunter’s Stew” with all you cooking enthusiasts. Enjoy!

1 elephant, medium size
salt and pepper
brown gravy to cover
2 rabbits (optional)

Cut the elephant into bite-sized pieces. Add brown gravy and cook at 465 F. for about four weeks. Salt and pepper to taste.

This will serve 3,800 people. If more are expected, the rabbits may be added. But do this only if necessary, for most people do not like to find hare in the stew!

Hi Karen and Pastor Tracy,

I sure do like a good recipe and a good chuckle; thanks for sharing.(Bet it tastes like chicken, too.) Seriously though, share some recipes so that we might make and taste the new cuisine you're experiencing. Might be fun to have some Zambian food for innermission someday!

Good to be getting your e-mails. Trying to share some of your experiences with the kids. Must take advantage of those teachable moments when I can.

You are both in our thoughts and prayers.
