If you walk to the end of our lane you’ll find seven seminarians. Housed in a dormitory, the students spend three years studying Biblical theology and learning practical ministry skills under the tutelage of Father Mukuyamba. In addition, our friend and landlady, Wenda Dil, teaches them an English class each Tuesday. Because she’ll be in Canada for a month visiting her children, Tracy has offered to teach the English class in her absence. Wenda has been encouraging her students to read more, so Tracy will be teaching them some basic principles of reading with understanding from How To Read A Book, A Classical Guide to Intelligent Reading. Written by Mortimer Adler and Charles Van Doren, it is, according to the The New Yorker, “the best and most successful guide to reading comprehension for the general reader.” Our children read this book with their father during their summers of high school. Although they didn’t fully appreciate it at the time, each of them (right, Adam?) have benefited from digesting this book. Please pray for Tracy as he shares this book with the seminary students. Also, pray for them that they would have understanding and find this a useful tool for their self-education. In addition to all this, because the Bible is also a book, it is useful for studying the Bible.
